Whistle Sports Enters The eSports World

Considering that eSports has become a spectator event virtually in the same vein as mainstream sports, its inclusion into Whistle Sports’ portfolio complements their other offerings and they expect to treat this asset as any other.

“This is not the place you’d first turn to get a sports score, but it’s a kind of go-to place for people–young people especially. It’s into  sports in a more free form way than ESPN ever was with the major exception of its X Games brainstorm, way back in 1995, that spawned an entire new genre of participation Whistle seems to identify with on some level.

“Whistle’s a pretty perfect partner for Sky Sports whose Soccer AM brand is the spine of a new Whistle related channel. It engages millennials with soccer-like stuff. But it’s far more entertaining than a panel show of sports experts reporting scores and highlights.”

“Case in point leading sports-focused MCN/MPN Whistle Sports.  Whistle Sports EVP Brian Selander tells me that Verizon signed with Whistle to develop a slate of seven original series with an initial commitment of over 80 episodes in a “multi-million dollar deal.”  Selander tells me,’We launched our network to serve those with a mobile-first mindset in sports and entertainment.  Go90 gives our community unique new shows, new content, and a new way to engage.'”
